Where analytics meets artificial intelligence

In a nondescript conference room, a senior data architect at a Fortune 500 retailer pulls up a dashboard that would have been impossible to imagine just five years ago. She toggles between traditional business intelligence metrics and sophisticated artificial intelligence models, all drawing from the same vast pool of customer data. Though most people have thought of analytics and AI as belonging to completely separate worlds, those spheres are converging. Spread across disparate departments and systems, data silos result in an expanding toolkit of analytics and AI capabilities that bottleneck workflows. Disconnected governance frameworks further complicate access controls, security, and compliance.

Fragmented data across systems create compounding challenges for analytics and AI effectiveness. Teams waste time navigating multiple tools and governance frameworks while still risking inconsistent outcomes. And gen AI introduced new challenges such as managing training data quality, privacy, and real-time data integrations.

“The customer-obsessed teams at Amazon spotted this shift and asked, ‘How could we make this easier?’ If we started from a blank piece of paper, what would an ideal AI and analytics solution look like?” Sivasubramanian adds. The company observed how its successful enterprise customers treat analytics and AI as complementary forces and demanded the unification of data, tools, and governance controls.

With SageMaker Unified Studio, users can discover data and put it to work using familiar AWS tools to complete end-to-end development workflows, including data analysis, data processing, model training, and gen AI app building. They can do so in a single-governed environment with Amazon Q Developer, the most capable gen AI assistant for software development, assisting them along the way to support development tasks such as data discovery, coding, SQL generation, and data integration. For example, a user could ask Amazon Q, “What data should I use to get a better idea of product sales?” or “Generate a SQL to calculate total revenue by product category.”

This consolidation of capabilities isn't just about convenience. It's about fundamentally re-imagining how enterprises scale AI innovation. Teams can slash development time, reduce tool switching, and scale analytics and AI initiatives across their organization more effectively.
